Thomas Edison struggled to invent the lightbulb.  He tried one thousand times to create artificial light and failed one thousand times.  At this point, a friend of his came to him and said, "Why are you still doing this?  It seems that creating this light is too difficult."  Edison replied simply, "I disagree.  One thousand failures means that I now know one thousand ways NOT to make a light bulb and I am that much closer to finding the one way that will work."

A wonderful antecdote, but some of you may be asking how this applies to wrestling.  Well, it was a couple of years ago that the WWE decided to mess with their Pay Per View lineup to try and better serve their audience.  Themed Pay Per Views have become the standard these days, with Capitol Punishment being the newest experiment in the WWE lineup.  The idea behind it was that the show would be built around political satire and being in Washington DC.  After weeks of awkward promo videos culminating in substandard filler comedy at the show, let's just say that Edison would put this show's theme in the pile of "how not to build a WWE Pay Per View".

Still, there was an interesting mix of matches on the card, from old rivalries to new stars.  It was a tough card to predict and for me, that's actually a really good thing.  I like when wrestling outsmarts me and I was hoping for that last night.  In some ways it delivered, but this show ended up being the adverse to what it should be.  As per usual, this piece will talk about the booking decisions on the show so let's get to that right now.  Check it out in FanVsFan's still new slideshow feature!
