My browser wasn’t working so well, so this is what I have to say:

Here’s the thing. It’s the rest of the Giants’ offense that’s going to allow Steve Smith to run away with it.

The Giants’ opponents are not going to start “game-planning” to face Steve Smith. That’s going to take a lot of work. The Giants line up Smith all over the field! as a flanker, as a split end, and in the slot, and you can’t assign one corner to follow him all over the field, and you definitely don’t want to double-team him.

Remember what happened last year when defensive coordinators double-teamed Plax all the time? The Giants had the #1 rushing attack last year, AND they led the NFL in time of possession.

And before you even start with the excuse of Derrick Ward being gone, I have two words for you: Ahmad Bradshaw. He’s averaging 5.6 yards a carry, and he’s in the top 20 in the league in rushing right now. 17 of those other 20 guys are starters.

Defensive coordinators are NOT going to run the risk of having Brandon Jacobs, Ahmad Bradshaw, and Allen Patrick tire out their players and chew up the clock. To them, Steve Smith is the lesser of two evils, and he’s going to stay that way all season long. That means single coverage, and that means an opportunity to continue to be productive.

And if we’re really, really going to get specific here, who’s going to Honolulu instead of Smith? Larry Fitzgerald? Probably. Greg Jennings? His offensive line is a catastrophe. Calvin Johnson? Yeah, right. Braylon and TO both got traded into the AFC. It’s over. Mark it down. Book those plane tickets in February!
