No exhibition game should count for anything regarding the actual season. It’s ridiculous. The team’s records should determine home field, period.

The all-star game has been a dying practice for quite awhile now… the original attraction came during the pre-internet and pre-cable/satellite time period when fans who only had access to local channels were able to see players from the other league compete who they would have never been able to see otherwise. Trying to restore that attraction into today’s modern midsummer classic is never going to work and by letting it determine home field advantage Bud Selig is making a further mockery out of baseball.
