I call BS on the injuries thing. You think you know what injuries are? Try having $80 million on the DL, try having 8 former all-stars on the DL. this is what happened to the mets last year. no one can ever pull the injury card on us after injuries derailed our season worse than any team in recent memory.
the reasons why the yankees played like garbage is because the mets out-executed them on the mound, in the field, and with the bat. doesn’t mean the mets are better, just means they were better all weekend.
truthfully… mets fans don’t care about the subway series. we want to beat philly, not NYY. we just love beating them so we don’t have to hear the bandwagon yankee fans run their mouths all the time.
Why are people construing what I said complaining about injuries? My point was that this is a game in MAY, not October. it’s also a game between two teams who don’t occupy the same division, so the games mean little in terms of directly impacting the standings. It used to be fun when it was a new concept for fans but even though the claim is there that TV ratings are high, the luster of the games are largely gone. I’m a Yankee fan and I don’t get jazzed for this game. Boston series? You bet. That’s the difference.

Ron you make great arguements. Eric you make some great points but I think for Mets fan the Subway Series in Queens is their World Series every year. If the Yanks take a series we just smile and say told you so but if the Mets take its like they all come out of the woodwork talking smack. Bottom line is the Yanks played like garbage this weekend. Doesnt help that the Yanks are STACKED with injuries. What the Mets did was save Jerry Manuel. Meet the Mess! Greet the Mess…Come to Bailout Field and Beat the Mess…..SING IT!
