To me, the Hall of Fame is not the "Hall of very good". While I am a Yankee fan and I believe Andy Pettitte was a a very good ballplayer, I'm not so sure he's a Hall of Famer. If I were to define who belongs in the hall, the men who get in should be the best of their time. When Andy was around, in no way was he better than Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens, Pedro Martinez, and in later years Roy Halladay. There are certain men that stand above the rest. Andy Pettitte was better than most but not a hall of famer.
In my heart, I am thankful for what he did for the Yankees, but I do have to draw the line somewhere.

I am on the fence in this argument. On one hand, I can't stand how good players get in the Hall of Fame now, but I also think that Andy was good enough (not great enough) to make the Hall of Fame. Like Gibbs says, he was never an ace, and what made him so good were his postseason stats. Until coming to the Phillies, Roy Halladay, the best pitcher in the game, hadn't pitched in one playoff game, and when he got to he threw a no-hitter. I like Andy, but Pettitte won't make it because he isn't great and he took steroids.
