That was then this is now. A big difference was that was our amatuers beating their pros. That isn’t the case any longer, if we’re going pro vs pro we have little chance in hockey and can still dominate in basketball. I love the American Olympic Hockey team as much as the next guy, but the depth isn’t there. Another Miracle on Ice is highly unlikely and with an international rink and rule changes it is far from the hockey I love here in the states.
As far as the end of Communism and the CCCP, what has it really done for a once powerful, proud nation. Nothing really, it has actually made it worse. The people in Russia are as poor as ever and now their government is a complete joke.
