I am not saying the players shouldn’t take the money…I would. But I think people want to see that winning and playing the game means MORE than making money. And anymore you have guys that don’t stop and look at the team they are going to….they just take the money.

You couldn’t say it better! I think that is the big problem with sports today all paycheck players and very few players with heart like B. Farve he is far from a paycheck player.

I understand WHY the Yankees are spending the money and that isn’t the main issue. You said we weren’t talking about the Yankees but players in general. That people don’t like to see them sign huge deals. And that is what I was saying. The reason people get frustrated is because players just want paychecks anymore.

And you can’t tell me Sabathia signed with the Yankees to win cause at the time he was the only signee on a team that missed the playoffs last season and aren’t any closer to the playoffs now!

Anybody who takes a job because it pays more than something else isn’t looking at the big picture. There are many jobs in this country that don’t pay as much as others but I would love to have them.

I personally wouldn’t leave the job I have right now unless the pay was substantially more AND the benefits/perks were the same or better because money isn’t everything.

That’s cool that some people out there still got class and think that way (gman)…I always use my Favorite Raider Ever as a example of what a real professional athelete should be and that is TIM BROWN played all but one year with the Raiders and spent a garbage year with T.B. but that guy is the 2nd best WR in N.F.L. history look it up only Jerry Rice has more Records infact… if… TIM BROWN had 2 Hall of fame QB’s back to back like J. Rice did… he would of smashed Jerry Rice!…He had 12+ QB’S in his career and still is 2nd all time in Receiving yards!…He had plenty of oppertunitys in his career to leave for more money and better team like Dallas his home town but he stayed loyal to the Silver and Black… that is the model of what every Player in sports should be!…But unfortunatly that’s not the case in modern day sports.
