Then again, consider the fact that there’s pride in playing for Stanford as well as studying there. What if Luck gets injured when he plays in the NFL? By opting to stay another year, perhaps he’s pursuing his degree or realizes he needs another year to really hone his abilities.
He showed us his potential during the Orange Bowl but he also made some mistakes too early in the game that kept Virginia Tech to at least think they had a chance. Even with Stanford’s head coach now bolting to the 49ers, I think it’s a reasonable decision for Luck to stick it out for at least one more year.

Thanks for your comment. The CBA definitely played a big part in his decision. He would be at a disadvantage if he was to sit home, contract-less, for a year, instead of playing one more year and learning one more year at Stanford. I agree that you should bolt at your highest stock, but answering your title of the debate, Luck is not making a mistake

Sure I might be more of a glass half empty guy but if Luck is serious about wanting to play on Sunday’s he should go pro just like his coach when his stock is at it’s highest.
He is going to have a new coaching staff and a new receiving corp. Peyton could have gone first either year but Ryan Leaf could have been taken first that year. Only good reason for a junior to return for senior year is improve his draft stock and you can’t go any higher then first
