The point though, is that if he HAD made it…then yes, it would’ve been in my opinion. That would’ve been the single greatest basketball play I’ve seen in my lifetime.

Why would we be dealing in if’s anyways? Yes, it would have been a great shot, but it is a mute point. The game was not that good to begin with, it was white boy basketball at its finest and though the defense looked good it was really more of a case of really bad offensive play.
I’m sorry, but I like my basketball played above the rim with three pointers sprinkled in and don’t tell me about fundamentals. Every player at that level has fundamentals otherwise they wouldn’t be playing there. The whole Butler story was nice and all, but I would have rather been watching John Wall and crew dangling their sacks all over big lug head Greg Zoubek’s forehead after dunking it on him.
Sorry, got off point there. While the shot would have been great it wouldn’t have been the greatest of all time in basketball. Anybody remember Christian Laetnner’s shot? MJ’s shot over Craig Ehlo? It would have been a wonderful celebration for a smaller school, but not the greatest shot ever.

I think where we are having miscommunication is with the definition of a great shot. I’m not talking about difficulty really, I’m more so talking about a great moment. If we’re talking difficultly, hell, there are far more regular season shots that are “greater” than the best post season shots, but you have to factor in the moment, the stakes, the play, etc. Yes, Stockton’s shot against the Jazz was amazing (I actually saw it, yes) and was better than Jordan’s, but Jordan’s is the better shot because of the stakes, the moment, etc. And yes, I saw LJ’s 4 point play, I’m not 11.

It would have been a great shot and would have ranked right up there but have to agree with Grogan14 it didn’t happen. I agree with you it would have ranked with the all-time moments have been replayed over and over again just like Jordan’s shot, The Catch, etc… but it didn’t
