This year is a perfect example of why the NBA is NOT rigged. David Stern would love to see a Kobe v. LeBron or a Kobe v. Wade or somehow get Carmelo or Howard involved in the marketing bonanza that is the NBA. Nothing would be better (in the world according to Stern) than to get one of the other “big stars” as a foil to Kobe like the days of Magic v. Bird. They built this year up as the year of Kobe v. LeBron and it did not materialize. The powers that be cannot be too happy about that.

Incorrect.

Lakers vs Celtics is what Stern really wanted. The Celtics were without Garnett last year, so it was plausible to see the Celtics fall short.

The LeBron vs Kobe dream Finals is what Stern and the NBA want everyone to think they’re aiming for.

However, no one, especially not Stern, want the Cavs in the Finals. Which is why James will go to either the Knicks or Bulls, and bring a classical franchise back to elite status.
