When I heard that Andre Johnson was seeking a new deal, it surprised me, but just because he has five years left on a deal, it doesn’t warrant any opposition of any sort. Johnson has been with the team through good and bad, and is one of the most physically dominating receivers in the NFL. With the event of a 2011 lockout looming, Johnson’s front-loaded contract isn’t paying his worth. I say give him a new deal out of respect for his play on the field, and his actions off of it, however, I would suggest a contract weighted towards the last years, rather than paying him up front like they did this time.
The guy made a mistake signing a long term deal. He was the first out of this current crop of wideouts to get a new deal therefore he will be the one who is underpayed
Bottom line. No matter what your production level if you sign a deal that’s the deal you should stick with. Just more millionaires crying about a few million dollars. It really does make me sick. Play out the contract you signed and stop whining about it. You play a game for a living for goodness sakes.
NYExaminer, you make some great points. Johnson is one of the best, if not the best receiver in the NFL…good character guy…everything you want your receiver to be. But he asked for, and got a new contract just a year ago. His agent negotiated the $15 mil signing bonus and the long-term deal. I’ve got a problem with a player getting a new deal and then immediately asking out of it just because another player at his position got a better deal.
Hey, Gibbsreport (Sorry, I don’t know your name). How are you? I hope all is well with you and your family. I just wanted to congratulate you for soundly vanquishing me in this debate. Great job, buddy. I look forward to the next time.
God bless.
Ron
Thanks a lot Ron. I think you are the first person I have ever seen congratulate the winner of a debate and you can just call me Gibbs

Yes, he is the best wideout in the game, when he signed the contract he did to help the team. So it is time for the team to take care of the MAN!!
