It is much easier to get quick sacks and it makes a corner’s job a lot easier. Championships are built in the trenches. I’ll take a DT or DE or MLB before a corner
shutting down an elite WR is the hardest one-on-one battle in the NFL. revis cripples passing offenses by taking away their best weapon.
He only cripples WR because the overall defense isnt given QBs a chance to make anything happen….
I tend to think the left tackle protecting his QBs blind side against the other teams best pass rusher is the hardest one on one matchup

Darrel Green won two super bowls, Mel Blount won four super bowls, just to name a few. That’s most irrelevant though. The NFL is a pass-first league unlike any other time in history now. Last season, 10 different QBs threw for over 4000 yards. Cornerbacks are now one of the most important positions on the field. The Jets had the top ranked pass defense and top ranked overall defense last year with Mike DeVito and Sione Pouha playing on the D-line. You don’t need a good D-line when you can get coverage sacks.
