Who cares? It’s about getting into the playoffs and then winning a championship. It doesn’t matter if you nine or 16 regular season games. All you are remembered for is if you won a championship. Will it be a disgrace if the Colts go on to Super Bowl glory? Of course it will be looked back at if the Colts don’t, but hindsight is 20/20 and only the person in charge of that situation has to live with that decision. What if Manning stayed in that game and the Colts won, but he suffered a injury that wouldn’t allow him to play at his best or even worse knock him out of the playoffs all together? Would that be a disgrace?
The year that this happened before with the Colts didn’t cost them in the playoffs. What did was getting beat by a better team. A player like Peyton Manning doesn’t get out of rythym from sitting out a half or even a game. He is the most prepared quarterback in the league, but even with that can be beat by a team that prepares just as well for their match-up.
The only reason I would like the record broken is so I don’t have to hear from the ’72 Dolphins any longer.
