With the new CBA that is being discusses that extra year and that extra money is going to be a much bigger deal since max money and years are both coming to come down. The smarter route would have been setting up for sign and trades. The Bulls were set up very well with Hinrich and Deng as trade chips and still having Rose with guys like Taj Gibson and Noah but now you are asking not one guy to take less money but 2
