At one point or another in our lives we have all dreamed about the big houses, nice cars, and all the pretty women that surround the life of an NBA superstar. Imagine if that could be you. Imagine if you could live that life. Well, now you might just be able to (if your good enough with the rock) compliments of the Maine Red Claws.
Today the team announced a two day tryout that will take place on September 11th and 12th at UMASS Boston. Maine Red Claws head coach Austin Ainge will be at the event both days evaluating talent in hopes of inviting a few lucky hoopsters to the Red Claws official training camp in November.
During last year's tryout at UMASS Boston the organization handed out three invitations to training camp. All three players - Mike Williams, Stanley Thomas, and Abdulia Jalloh - made the Red Claws inaugural roster.
“The open tryouts are an opportunity for players to show their talents,” said Austin Ainge, head coach of the Maine Red Claws. “We were fortunate to find players who helped round out team in our first year, and I hope that we have equal success as we enter our second season.”
Unfortunately, for all you wannabe NBA'ers out there, your chances are pretty slim unless your like me and just totally crazy with the rock. During last seasons tryout 175 hoopsters showed up. As stated above, only three made it.
If you feel like you do have the talent to make the NBDL squad, and begin your journey to being the next NBA superstar, all you need is $150 in advance, or $200 at the door. You can sign up by following this link: http://www.nba.com/dleague/maine/tryoutsnortheast.html.
Because I don't want to show everyone up at the tryout I have decided to keep my talents within the boundries of the basketball court driveway at my house. If you do end up going, good luck. Just remember me if you ever do make it to the big league; I have college loans I have to pay.
