For the past 3 or 4 years, Titan fans have been blessed with the infamous Fisher/Reinfeldt approach to free agency - or better known as the "let's get the sorry cheap guys so we don't have to use our money" approach. And this year, the Titans are doing a fine job of sticking with their technique.
As always, the first order of business was lose some good players. This year, the Titans decided to let defensive studs (and fan-favorites) Kyle Vanden Bosch and Keith Bulluck slip through their roster. Oh and by the way, the same coach has either signed or is pursing both those guy - Lions Coach, and former Titan's D-Coordinator, Jim Schwartz. Anybody else feeling the sense that Schwartz knew what he was doing when he picked up some of his former players?
Next is the "go after no one" stage. Where the Titans like to sit back, turn on SportsCenter, and see all the best free agents get picked up.
Then Coach Fisher and GM Mike Reinfeldt went to phase three of the Titan's free agency period - better known as the "go after the no-name guys" phase...
First up was DE Jason Babin, a former first round bust that has played for four different teams in only four year.
Next was LB Brian Witherspoon, who has been released by two different teams in on a period of six months Yeah, that's it, only two guys. And both have of them unproductive past.
How 'bout them Titans?
