Bruins Enter Enemy Territory
The Bruins take their act on the road tonight as they look to extend their series lead to 3-0 against the Flyers. Things are expected to step up physically from their already high standpoint. Philadelphia likely will seek to employ any home ice advantage they can. The Flyers went 2-0 at home in their first round upset of the Devils.
A Day for Nomar
The Red Sox will honor former shortstop Nomar Garciaparra this evening prior to their game with the Angels. Garciaparra signed a one-day contract with the team this spring so he could retire with the team that first gained notoriety with. Meanwhile, Boston will look for their third straight win over Los Angeles. John Lackey makes the start against his former club.
The Sox won in exciting fashion last night. Jeremy Hermida hit a bases-clearing double in the bottom of the eighth inning, which was the difference in a 5-1 victory. Jon Lester went eight strong and got a key double play with the bases loaded in the top half of the eighth.
Garnett, Perkins Miss Practice
With three full days off until Friday's Game 3 versus the Cavaliers, the Celtics sat Kevin Garnett and Kendrick Perkins during practice today. Boston coach Doc Rivers said Garnett strained his foot and Perkins strained his knee. Perkins said he'll be ready to go on Friday and hopes to practice tomorrow. He also said Garnett will likely be ready on Friday as well.
Rondo Named to All-Defense Team
Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo was named to the NBA's All-Defensive first team today. He received the second-most first place votes among all players, behind only Dwight Howard. The other first-teamers are Howard, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and the Bobcats' Gerald Wallace. Kevin Garnett and Kendrick Perkins were the only other Celtics to receive votes.
Towel-gate
Celtics general manager Danny Ainge was seen throwing a towel into the air to distract the Cavs' J.J Hickson at the free throw line during Game 2 of their series. Ainge was a supremely competitive player, so it shouldn't be a huge surprise that he would do something like this. However, with Boston leading 80-57 at the time, it was a bit class-less. The NBA is supposedly looking into the situation.
