This doesn't come as a surprise to me at all. I have met many close friends bonding over football. The League has changed their approach to women fans over the years - perhaps since twitterand other social media platforms brings a "focus group" like atmosphere that the League and others that market directly to women fans can monitor. Gone are the days of pink everything and now merchandise is mostly in team colors but in flattering cuts and fits.

Just a few years ago, everything fit me like a practice jersey (because I am tall) and now I have no problems finding gear to fit.

I applaud the League for finding ways to bring more women into fandom. Now if we can just get more women in positions of power whether it be the League offices, the NFLPA, ESPN, NFL Network or the official sponsors for the NFL.

It's come a long way though.
