Losing the top seed was not to be kept the same against the Canucks, another top seed in the Western Conference. The Red Wings found a way past the Canucks but it costed a lot. Pavel Datsyuk is now out for four weeks, and will be missed on the ice. The final score was 5-4 Red Wings, and here is a recap of the game:
In the first period, there was not much action to speak about, as the Wings, 8:12 into the period took the lead on a slapshot goal by Danny Cleary, his 15th of the season. That ended the scoring recap of the first period, with a lot more time left.
At the start of the second period, only 1:11 into the second, The Canucks tied it up 1-1 on a power play goal by Henrik Sedin, his 7th. But only minutes later, with 6:29 played, the Wings regained the lead with a goal by Valterri Filppula and had a 2-1 lead through some more the second. But with 11:21 played, the Canucks got the other Sedin brother, Daniel Sedin to score, tying the score up at 2, and it stayed that way until 19:39 when Mikeal Samuelson gave the Canucks the lead. Ending the second period, and giving the Canucks the edge.
At the 1:54 mark of the third period, Henrik Zetterburg gave the Wings the tie back, and had them in a good situation, until the Canucks took the lead back when Jeff Tambellini scored at the 12:10 mark, and had the Canucks minutes away from a Win. But it wasnt to happen in regulation, as the Captain, Lidstrom got the game tying goal on a power play at 16:06.
Overtime we go. Both teams got a point, and it was the main Wings player of the night, Henrik Zetterburg scoring his 12th goal and giving the Wings the 5-4 win, at the Joe Louis Arena
