Every season, players get their names thrown around in trade talks. If you didn’t know, a potential Jason Thompson for Jeff Teague deal was shot down by Atlanta. With the NBA season only 10 games down, we have tons of names already being thrown around. SCIC has decided: Let’s break them down by position and who are the main players at each position who’s name will be in trade talks. Point Guards There’s not too many point guards out there up for a potential trade. The team who’s looking most for point guard help? the Miami Heat. The Heat will most likely look for a small contract guy ( Daniel Gibson, Jannero Pargo) then the star guard. Toronto could shock some people and throw Jarrett Jack into the mix, Indiana could look for someone to take T.J. Ford and Los Angeles would celebrate if someone is willing to take Baron Davis. Main players: Lou Williams, Baron Davis, Jose Calderon and Kirk Hinrich Shooting Guards Overall, a very interesting mix of players here. Denver could jump into this and place J.R. Smith on the block if anything develops with Carmelo, Golden State could look for a legit two man and that could mean moving Monta Ellis. Philadelphia has already discussed moving Andre Iguodala and I believe he will be moved. Don’t sleep on Milwaukee and Micheal Redd’s 18 million expiring contract. If the Bucks can convince someone to take him, he will be moved. Another wildcard could be Orlando’s Vince Carter Main players: Andre Igoudala, Monta Ellis, Richard Hamilton and Marcus Thornton Small Forwards If you need a small forward, there’s a couple big names out there available. Let’s start with the Phoenix Suns. With 11 small forwards on the roster like Jared Dudley, Hedo Turkoglu, Josh Childress even Earl Clark could be a piece that interest a team. The Detroit Pistons could look to move Tyshaun Prince and his 11 million dollar contract. The biggest name: Carmelo Anthony. Main players: Carmelo Anthony, Loul Deng, Josh Smith and Tyshaun Prince Power Forwards There isin’t too many power forwards on the block as of right now. Elton Brand could be moved now that he’s looking to be coming back with his recent strong games. For now, Jason Thompson of the Sacramento Kings seem to be the man who can be available and produce. Main playes: Jason Thompson, Jeff Green, Charlie Villaneuva, David West Centers There’s only one real center potentially up for trade, Anderson Varejao. Right now, Cleveland is 5-5, but if they fall to the bottom of the pack ( something I expect will happen), the Cavaliers could look to move him. Right now, it’s tough to say what Varejao’s trade value is. Varejao isin’t a 20 point scorer but he’s the best post defensive player in the NBA. He does everything a team wants in a center.
