There's been a great deal of talk lately about Missouri departing for the Big 10. Or Texas (or even most of the Big 12 South ) heading to the SEC. Or Colorado going to the Pac 10. Or all of the above. In those scenarios, where all that remains might be scraps of the Big 12 North, what then? People assume not being invited to the Big 10 and not having a Big 12 to remain in, would be terrible. But would it?

Let's think about Nebraska's choices in that scenario. Let's suppose Nebraska had no opportunity to join a or remain in a BCS conference (which sounds unlikely, but could be a possibility). That leaves a couple of choices. One might be to join a non-BCS conference. Another would be to become independent.
