What Free Agents the Bengals Need To Watch For, Perhaps Tony Pike

The Bengals had a great game against the Denver Broncos and got the win which is unimportant in preseason. You can look at the many things that went right for the Bengals but there were things that went wrong.

Offensive line played horrible the first couple of series for the Bengals and its why they were forced into third and long situations. Quarterback Carson Palmer was hit after he threw it once again luckily he didn't get hurt.

The first drive for the Bengals should have been three points, but the kicker missed a 44 yard field goal. Those would not have been a problem for Shayne Graham to make if he was still on the team.

Last but not least I still think the Bengals do not have a solid back up quarterback and they need to be on the look out for someone to slip to them after players are cut.

If the Bengals can find an offensive lineman thats a veteran I think it would help the team and certainly couldn't hurt. They played great on the first touchdown drive for Cincinnati and it showed us how great Palmer is when he has blockers.

Palmer started the game with pressure coming from Denver and he had a few incomplete passes at the beginning of the game, but after that he didn't miss a beat. He had time to find his check receivers in Jordan Shipley and Jermaine Gresham and that is going to be the most important thing this season.

The kicking situation is tough because they have two on the roster you can't really go out and find another one. They made a lot of field goals in the game Sunday, but I don't want top see any special teams mistakes because it lost them a couple games last season.

The quarterback situation is ridiculous since the Bengals still haven't had a solid back up since Jon Kitna. They need to find a quarterback that can step up if he gets hurt, but since they haven't done that yet they should look for a younger player.

Former University of Cincinnati quarterback Tony Pike I thought would have been a solid draft pick if the Bengals could have got him later on. He ended up going to Carolina with a very crowded depth chart at quarterback.

In the Panther's first preseason game Pike only had four plays that he was in the game. The Panthers already have their future quarterback in Jimmy Clausen I can see them letting Pike go.

Pike dropped in the draft because he was lazy. He didn't do enough to prepare himself for his big job interview and it cost him. He also had numerous injuries that prevented him from being a Heisman contender in college.

Pike needs a second chance and what better team to do it than the Bengals. The Bengals give the most second chances and it seems to work. I think Pike would like to play in Cincy and he could be a good back up for the future.

The main thing is he plays similar to Carson Palmer and he can air the ball out. Jordan Palmer plays like his brother he just can't adjust and make the right reads.

Again, there are few things I seen wrong with the Bengals second preseason game because I know that this is JUST preseason. They will make mistakes and learn from them its the name of the game. We'll have to wait and see if they can reach out and grab someones misfit player for our benefit once again.
