West Ham announced an investigation into claims that their fans subjected the family of Frederic Piquionne and Victor Obinna to racial abuse. The news comes as a response to reports of such abuse during the Manchester United VS West Ham match.
West Ham is reviewing the CCTV (Closed Circuit TV) footage as well gathering information from witnesses and cooperating with the police. The team announced that they would deal with those who committed this serious incident.
The Premier League Teams (including West Ham) and the FA deserve praise for its efforts in stamping out racism in football. The team is proud of its participation in various causes within English football such as "Kick It Out" and "Show Racism the Red Card".
The recent investigation and the publicity surrounded serves to remind people that racism has no place in football or any other sport. The football matches (as well as other sports) exist for the enjoyment of people from all lifestyles.
It also serves to relieve the tension of everyday life and is a great alternative to the negative influences of the world. It is for this reason that those who love football should do everything to expose acts of racism in matches as well as team supporters.
I would like to extend my congratulations to West Ham for being one of the teams that took the initiative to investigate this example of possible racial abuse.
It is my hope that others will follow West Ham.
