After defeating "Big Nog" on Fuel T.V. back in June there was no doubt that Fabricio Werdum is next in line for a title shot against the winner of Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos.
Dos Santos and Velasquez are squared to meet for the third time in there UFC career for the UFC Heavyweight Championship. There bout is set to take place at UFC 166 in Houston, Texas.
Reporter Ariel Helwani was the first person to crack this story. He announced that Werdum is willing to wait after the bout on a episode of UFC Tonight.
When you look deep into Fabricio Werdum's UFC career he has been in the octagon once with #1 contender Junior Dos Santos dating back all the way to 2008 at UFC 90. At UFC 90, Dos Santos got the best of Werdum and defeated him 90 seconds into the bout via knockout. If Dos Santos can knock-off champion Cain Velasquez there is no doubt that Werdum will be looking for some retribution in a coming title fight.
But when heads turn to Cain Velasquez, there seems to be no beef between the two fighters that would signify that there could be some bad blood leading into fight if Cain was to knock-off Junior Dos Santos at 166.
Fabricio Werdum is a force to be reckon within UFC's Heavyweight division. When you look his past three fights all in which came in his favorite (3-0) he has defeated Roy Nelson, Mark Russow and Big Nog. All coming with a unanimous decision victory over Big Country, a knockout victory over Russow and to cap it off a submission victory over Big Nog. This just indicates that Werdum is very dangerous and that the bout can end standing up or on the ground via submission.
