Overall, not a very good weekend for major Terps sports. Let's start off with Terps men's basketball.

In their second game of the year, the Terps basketball team got blown out by #15 Alabama in Maryland's first game at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off Tournament. We were down 16 at half and no Terp player reached double figures in points. You can find the box score here.

Then in their second game of the tournament, the Terps beat the new Pac-12 member Colorado Buffaloes 78-71. Star sophomore point guard Terrell Stoglin scored 32 points as the Terps overcame a 8-point halftime deficitand furiously scored 52 points in a comeback-second half. Freshman Nick Faust also chipped in with 15 points. Box score here.

Here comes the real stinker. Earlier today, Maryland got flat out embarassed by the Iona Gaels (What??) from the MAAC. We lost 89-63 and couldn't stop an explosive Iona offense led by point guard Scott Machado who tallied 15 points and 15 assists. The Terps fell to 2-2 on the young season and at least get a few days off until their next game back at the Comcast Center on Friday against Florida Gulf Coast State. Box score for the Iona game here.

Onto an even worse topic, Terps football.

Saturday's game was a joke at Wake Forest. The Terps lost 31-10 and weren't really close to winning the entire time. Our record falls to 2-9 and (thankfully) the last game of the year is next Saturday in Raleigh at NC State. Box score here.

In good news, the Lady Terps basketball team is 4-0 and is ranked #10 in the country in the ESPN/USA Today poll and #9 in the AP poll.

More good news: The Terps women's field hockey won the National Championship over North Carolina.

Also, the Terps men's soccer defeated West Virginia in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament 4-0.
