Tuesday's Phinsanity Still flying high from the preseason victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Miami Dolphins have had a couple low-key days. Our next preseason game comes this Friday, August 27thagainst the Atlanta Falcons. Check back on Thursday as I break down Week 3.
So what happened?
- Dolphins have started culling the herd as the following players have been released: Kory Sperry, Travis Ivey, Tristan Davis. Not a whole lot of surprises there.
- Sparano on:
- Pat White - Not expected to play in the next preseason game
- Berger/Grove - No starter has been determined as of yet, but the Dolphins are lucky to have 2 starting caliper players on one team, as other teams have trouble finding even just one player.
- "Explosive plays we have to limit"
- Charles Grant - Improving to the change to a 2-gap defense
- Marlon Moore - Has been practicing as a gunner in practice, but not in games yet.
- Dolphins rookie John Jerry has locked down the starting right guard spot
- Dolphins CB Nolan Carroll is averaging 25.4 yards per kickoff on his five returns. It's his job to lose.
Other News around the Division
- Nick Mangold has apparently agreed in principle to total compensation with the New York Jets. Guaranteed money appears to be the final thing to be worked out
- I'm sure you've heard by now that Tim Cowlishaw has tweeted that he expects Darrelle Revis to announce a contract sometime between Wednesday and Saturday this week. It appears no other reporter can confirm this story. Lots of speculation on whether this is some big ploy for Hard Knocks, but I'm not buying it.
