UAB took on Southern Miss last night and all I have to say is I had fun. You know, after last year's NCAA tourney appearance and great season, it's been a really tough year for us. We started out this year 3-7 and now were 10-13. We've actually had a pretty tough schedule playing the only undefeated team (Murray St.) and the number 15 team in the country The Creighton Bluejays. So last night, we started off horribly. Quincy Taylor had 2 turnovers in the first 2 possessions and Southern Miss started out going 2-2 from the field. UAB gathered itself though when Coach Mike Davis subbed Jordan Swing in. Even though Swing was guarded by their toughest defender, he played fantastic defense and when he got the chance to score he did. Then, after us taking the lead, we put in Jekore Tyler. Jekore is a JUCO player that has incredible athleticism but his achilles heel has been following what the coaches have been trying to tell him to do, and when he came in he provided an amazing spark with 2 slams and many offensive rebounds. We ended up pulling away at the end with a final score of 71-61 and Cameron Moore and Jordan Swing led the blazers with 27 points and 15 points. Great win and go blazers!
