It is roughly six weeks away and we here at Touchdown Dance are ready to release our first mock draft of the year. After careful research in team needs and top players available we feel confident that this Mock 1.0 is accurate in what would help each NFL squad the most in drafting their 1st rounders. Enough of the blah, blah, blah here is what we came up with.

  1. St. Louis Rams-(DT) Ndamukong Suh (Nebraska)- we here at Touchdown Dance don't care how badly the Rams need a quarterback, because there isn't one worth taking here. Suh is a defensive coordinators dream and offensive coordinator nightmare. He is versatile, can line-up at either tackle spot and even play off the edge. A talent like this only cmes around so often and you must grab it when you can.
  2. Detroit Lions- (OT) Russell Okung (Oklahoma State)- the Lions started by drafting Matthew Stafford #1 overall last season and now they must pay to protect him and Okung should be able to do that for many years to come.
  3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- (DT) Gerald McCoy (Oklahoma)- this is going to be a tough choice for Bucs brass, but a top quality DT is much harder to come by than a free safety so the Bucs will begin rebuilding the defense at the point of attack.
  4. Washington Redskins- (QB) Sam Bradford (Oklahoma)- though I wouldn't go this route I know Mike Shannahan loves to have his guy and this way he can sit behind Jason Campbell for one season and continue to strengthen that bum shoulder. Bradford will be full go for the Redskins and Shannahan by the end of 2010 if necessary, but Redskin fans should be prepared that this pick will push the franchise back another 10 years.
  5. Kansas City Chiefs- (S) Eric Berry (Tennessee)- the Chiefs are in desperate of playmakers and Berry will be just that roaming centerfield at Arrowhead Stadium. An offensive lineman is a good possibilty here to.
  6. Seattle Seahawks- (DE) Jason Pierre-Paul (South Florida)- the first real surprise of the draft as Pete Carroll swings for the fences with this raw talent. Being there no capable quarterbacks of the future Carroll shoots for the moon to win with defense his first couple of seasons back in the league.
  7. Cleveland Browns- (CB) Joe Haden (Florida- the Browns could go a million different ways here, but we feel that Mike Holgrem will play it safe and go with the best corner available from a large school who has seen plenty of decent receivers.
  8. Oakland Raiders- (OT) Bruce Campbell (Maryland)- this is a hge area of need for the Raiders, but unfortunately the Raiders fall in love with numbers instead of on the field play. Campbell wowed at the combine and I'm sure that woke Al Davis long enough for him to watch and change his Depends.
  9. Buffalo Bills- (OT) Anthony Davis (Rutgers)- though they don't have the right quarterback yet. What they do have needs to be protected and the Bills have almost nothing resembeling a NFL offensive line starter on their roster as we speak.
  10. Jacksonville Jaguars- (DE) Derrick Morgan (Georgia Tech)- no it isn't Tim Tebow, but this guy will help them very much. He is ready to play and in a rotation with newly acquired Aaron Kampman the Jaguars may actually get some pressure on opposing quarterbacks in 2010.
  11. Denver Broncos- (WR) Dez Bryant (Oklahoma State)- Brandon Marshall is not long for this team whether he leaves this year or next. The relationship between he and Josh McDaniels will come to a head soon. Thus Bryant makes perfect sense, plus Eddie Royal had a bad sophomore season.
  12. Miami Dolphins- (S) Taylor Mays (USC)- the Tuna started rebuilding the secondary last season with two very good corners and now he goes with the most athletic safety in the draft giving the Dolphins one of the best secondaries of the future.
  13. San Francisco 49ers- (OT) Bryan Bulaga (Iowa)- the defense in San Fran is on the rise, but they struggle to protect the passer and Mike Singletary knows where football begins and ends with the offensive and defensive lines.
  14. Seattle Seahawks- (OT) Trent Williams (Oklahoma)- the Seahawks start the daunting task of rebuilding the offensive lne that was built around Walter Jones for so long. The hope is Williams can live up to 50% of what Jones was able to accomplish over his great career.
  15. NY Giants- (LB) Rolando McClain (Alabama)- Antonio Pierce is gone and the defense was a huge disappointment last season. The team has plenty of offense, but must get back to attacking and tackling. McClain doesn't have eye popping numbers, but he is smart and gets the job done on the field.
  16. Tennessee Titans- (DE) Brandon Graham (Michigan)- he doesn't have the premier size, but Graham is a perfect fit for Jeff Fisher who loves guys who keep on going. The Titans are in a full blown youth movement and there is no better place to start than a young guy who is ready to go immediately.
  17. San Francisco 49ers- (DT) Jared Odrick (Penn State)- the Niners hit the offensive line with their first pick in the first round and now hit the defensive side with Odrick. He can play the (DE) in the beginning in a nice rotation and could possibly be the answer to replacin (NT) Aubreyo Franklin who was franchise tagged and may become to expensive in the future.
  18. Pittsburgh Steelers- (S) Earl Thomas (Texas)- the Steelers could really use some quality help along the offensive and defensive line, but the team got a sorry glimpse of a future without All-World (S) Troy Polamalu last season. Thomas can play along side Troy making one of the best safety tandems in the league.
  19. Atlanta Falcons-  (DT) Dan Williams (Tennessee)- the Falcons need help all along the line, but finding a top quality run stuffer sure comes in handy at this point of the draft. Williams may also help free up John Abraham for more one on one match-ups to get after the quarterback.
  20. Houston Texans- (RB) CJ Spiller (Clemson)- Steve Slaton had a horrible sophomore season and with a high powered passing attack this team could sure use a home run hitter in the backfield to match. Spiller is also an excellent return may who changes field position.
  21. Cincinnati Bengals- (G) Mike Iupati (Idaho)- the line in Cincinanti is large and played very well last season, but they are older than you think. Adding some more youth to the line to go with last season's first rounder Andre Smith may ensure protection for Carson Palmer for the remainder of his career.
  22. New Enland Patriots- (TE) Jermaine Gresham (Oklahoma)- Belichick replaces the former 1st round (TE) Benjamin Watson with a much better model for Tom Bundchen to target over the middle. This much needed with the questions they currently have at the receiver position in the future.
  23. Green Bay Packers- (OT) Charles Brown (USC)- the Packers resigned their two starting tackles from last season who are both old and bad. Aaron Rodgers needs to be protected and brining in Brown is a good place to start.
  24. Philadelphia Eagles- (DE) Everson Griffen (USC)- the Eagles haven't had a true pass rusher since Reggie White left town. Griffen probably can't fit those shoes, but may be a pure enough pass rusher that the Eagles wouldn't have to resort to all out blitzes to get to the passer.
  25. Baltimore Ravens- (CB) Kyle Wilson (Boise State)- the Ravens had plenty of problems covering opposing receivers which may have caused them to miss the playoffs. Wilson can help with that and is an excellent return man which never hurts to have.
  26. Arizona Cardinals- (LB) Sean Weatherspoon (Missouri)- they lost Karlos Dansby to free agency and the guys on the outside are aging quickly. Weatherspoon will fit in nicely on the inside of that 3-4 scheme in Arizona.
  27. Dallas Cowboys- (C/G) Maurkice Pouncey (Florida)- the Cowboys line is way overrated and could use a infusion of some talented youth. Pouncey brings versatility which will save money which Jerry Jones really likes these days.
  28. San Diego Chargers- (RB) Ryan Matthews (Fresno State)- the Bolts waited a couple years too late to rid themselves of LT and now all that is left is Darren Sproles and some spare parts. Matthews is a multi-talented, larger back who will fit perfectly in the Chargers offensive system.
  29. NY Jets- (LB) Sergio Kindle (Texas)- yes, the Jets do have a very good defense, but the likes of backers like Vernon Gholston have yet to pan out and maybe on their way out shortly. Kindle can play with his hand on the ground and up right in a back peddle to cover the flat. The rich get richer in the Meadowlands.
  30. Minnesota Vikings- (DT) Brian Price (UCLA)- Though Pat Williams intends on playing in 2010 he is almost forty and the wear of his current case against the NFL is probably wearing his patience also. The Vikings need to think of the future and keeping th strength of the defense as close to the caliber it is at its current state.
  31. Indianapolis Colts- (OT) Rodger Saffold (Indiana)- his value sky-rocketed during the combine and with nothing worth taking along the defensive front te Colts look to the future protection of the league's most valuable asset.
  32. New Orlenas Saints- (DE) Carlos Dunlap (Florida)- this guy is free fall. From off the field issues, to questions of effort, but his talent is too great to take a flyer on at this point in the draft. Especially at an area of need for the Saints who let (DE) Charles Grant go earlier this offseason.
