I've really fallen behind the last couple of days as I continue my role as blogger extraodinaire (yeah right), Mr. Mom and my latest role as a nurse. Let me explain the later.
My wife had her tonsils removed on Tuesday. The entire day was an ordeal, from her surgery being pushed back over four hours, to her sugar going low immediately after surgery (she is a Type 1 diabetic "juvenile") and finally not getting home and back to the kids til almost 8 PM after leaving them with my sister at 10:45 AM. A full day with my kids is like a day at a criminally insane zoo. So it's safe to say I've been pretty busy the past couple of days, hence no posts. The kids are fine now that I have them tied back up in the closets (just playin), but my wife is having a very difficult time with the recovery. Honestly, she's a huge pain in my arce (just playin, not really, no really I'm kidding, in case she reads this).
So enough of my non-sense, lets get to commenting on the news that has happened tthroughout the league in the last couple of days.
- Baltimore Ravens
The NFL's newest murderer for hire found a new job. The Ravens signed (WR) Donte Stallworth to a 1 year deal this week. I know he was only charged with manslaughter, but if he didn't have a crap load (for family payoff) of cash this man would still be in jail. Ah, to be rich and dumb in America the only place you can run someone over with your car and receive little punishment. And then be able to return to a game to make more ridiculous amounts of money.
- Tennessee Titans
An already extremely weak free agent class got even worse this week as the Titans re-signed (G) Eugene Amano to a 5 year, 25.7 million dollar deal. Unless your team has a ton of draft picks this year, it is more than likely your favorite NFL team will look much like last seasons. So for me as a Bears fan, it really, really blows. While we're talking about the Bears.....
- Chicago Bears
The Bears offseason was already handicapped with the availabilty of a limited number of high end free agents and add in no draft picks in the first two rounds you have a craptastic season to look forward to in 2010. Then you multiple that by the farce the organization put forth in the search for both an offensive and defensive coordinator and you have a team that has reached the laughability factor that teams only like the Raiders could have reached. Until now, the Bears have passed the Raiders for laughing stock of the league when they fired pro personel director Bobby DePaul this week.
I really don't give a crap what the reasoning behind this is, to me it is complete and total insanity. The Bears ownership has lost control of this ship and the people that they have hired to steer this monstrosity is sailing it straight for an iceberg. For this to happen so far into the offseason and so close to free agency, the combine and even the draft is inexcusable. My fandom for the laundry (thanks Tito for the verbage) will never waver, but I am tired of this once proud and founding NFL organization of being run into the ground with little to no answers given to the fans who make this team and league run. Yes, they really have me scratching my head and saying what the f***!
- NFL Draft Notes
A couple of notable potential draftees have had some setbacks. First, Notre Dame (QB) Jimmy Claussen is still not 100% recovered from toe surgery. Still in the running to be the first quarterback taken this year Claussen's draft status may hinge on a doctor visit today where he'll find out how the toe is healing. If all is well Claussen will most likely have a Pro Day at Notre Dame a couple of weeks before the draft. Which may be a big advantage to him if he can raise some eyebrows at that time. We always remember and like what we seen last and that would be the case of Claussen vs Bradford.
A bad break for Georgia Tech (WR) Demaryius Thomas who broke his foot during a workout on Tuesday. The break is said to be clean with a 4-6 week recovery time, per his agent. This will definitely keep him out of next week's combine and may put any pro day workouts at risk. Thomas is a Top 10 (WR) prospect here at Touchdown Dance and this break could push a couple of other talents slightly ahead of him when it's time for teams to make their selections.
Stayed tuned to Touchdown Dance for all of our Top 10 prospect list, draft news and mocks. We'll be throwing those all out to you as soon as the Combine weekend has closed.
