It's debatable how much you can truly learn as observers during spring practice. The fifteen practices may be vital and informative to program insiders, but the bland coachspeak it produces doesn't always lend itself to great insights for fans. That's why when a coach volunteers that a newcomer is showing flashes, it catches your eye. When Aurora native and NU baseball player Joe Broekemeier was mentioned by Bo Pelini, it brought to mind images of former NU receiver Todd Peterson.
