There's one thing I have been on my knees in front of the TV begging for thus far this season. More Semih Erden! In all honesty, I really haven't been on my knees begging for this, but seeing Semih out there on the floor is something I'd like to see in the near future.
With Jermaine O'Neal out of the lineup and not playing well in the game he did play in, the Celtics have choosen to go small in most scenario's with Glen Davis at center off the bench. While I like the move, there are also times I would like to see a true center in there in order to reduce the amount of minutes for Kevin Garnett.
That true center is 2008 second round draft pick Semih Erden.
Going into the preseason I think it would be safe to that none of us expected Semih to play like he did. Throughout the preseason Semih showed great hands, a smart basketball IQ, and all the little things that we love to see.
Apparently all of these things weren't enough for Doc Rivers to consider him a key component to the rotation. Now that Shaq is possibly going to be sidelined for a few games with a knee injury, it's time for Doc to give Semih a chance.
It sure would be interesting to see what this guy could do in 15 minutes or so against NBA talent. Right now would be a great time to see how he measures up in the NBA and find out if he can be considered a key part of the Celtics rotation.
Now is the time. It's all up to you Doc, let's get Semih out on the floor against the Pistons on Tuesday.
