This is It! The last week of the regular season and there are some seasons on the line for some teams. I am a Giants fan and although I am upset with them for playing like they don't want another Superbowl in the last 2 games they are not yet out of it. I am a football fan and if they don't make it, they know why and I know why but if they just laydown and don't take advantage of redeeming themselves and hoping that the Bears take out the Packers, then I will lose respect and would be all for firing the head coach. The game against the Redskins should be a given. The Redskins are a very dysfunctional franchise. They have lost games in many ways this season like other seasons. Some games they have been flat out beaten and other games they have beaten themselves. They have no chance of being in the playoffs and I don't think they should just give up but anyone who knows football should realize that the Giants are in fact a much better team. The phrase "any given sunday" is the best phrase because any team can win or lose. The Patriots are playing out of their mind, but that doesn't mean they have won the championship already. In 2007, they had an undefeated season, but they couldn't win the big one. Thats what they all play for is the big one (Superbowl). Every single player in the league wants to win a superbowl. Some ask to be traded to a different team to help their chances and some who are that good feel they can help build the team from nothing to something. Either way, that's the goal. Now, we all know not everyone can win a ring or is in position to. I wouldn't call them failures either. There are some great players who have played the game who don't have a ring to show for it and unfortunately people hold that against them. My point is you play the best you can and when you walk away you won't have any regrets. If you don't play as hard because the rest of your team sucks or because you don't get along with your coach or because you want more money, then perhaps you don't deserve a ring. Play ball. Anyone who has watched sports long enough have seen some remarkable comeback seasons, games, quarters, drives, etc. Just because you are down 21 points, doesn't mean you can't comeback. Just because you are a just .500 team doesn't mean you can't make it to the superbowl, just because your team doesn't have "that star" doesn't mean you aren't good enough to make it to Dallas. I don't know where I heard it from but I have been saying it since I fell in love with sports. "That's why they play 4 quarters"! I love watching sports, I was never really a organized sports type of person. I played streetball, I had pick up games and such but watching it is fun too. I try to look at from many different perspectives. I try to see it as an owner, as a player, as a coach, as a fan, etc. I don't know how, not even sure when, but I am confident that some day I will own a minority or majority stake in a pro sports franchise. I am sure it is a lot harder than it looks to run a billion dollar franchise, make the right trades, picks, hire the right coaches, fire the wrong coaches, cut players, market the team, let those I hire to do their job to the best of their ability. I am not waiting on the opportunity, I want to create the opportunity. Perhaps this post is a prophecy of what is to come. It's a long way from now because of course there are other priorities that I would like to take care of before I venture into the sports business, but it's on my list for sure. Anyway, I had to post my thoughts today and get ready to watch some good games today. See Ya!
THIS IS WHY WE PLAY THE GAMES....
