That's right... It's Thursday afternoon, so time to sit back with your favorite beverage of choice, something to eat and join us as we take a look at what's being said about the Badgers and the B1G around the web. As always Thirsty Thursday is presented by the folks at American Retro Bar NYC, the newest home for all your Badgers game watch parties in Manhattan! They've got your Nebraska game needs covered with $3 PBR Tallboy's and $8 Bud Light/Rolling Rock Pitchers as long as you're wearing Wisconsin Red, so please check them out and tell Gus and the gang there that WiscoBadgers.com sent you!
On to the news of the day, and I have to start off with a story from the "didn't see that coming" files in regards to the Nebraska game this weekend from CornNation.com where of all people Marquette fans take a totally unwarranted shot at the Badgers. Guess it's September and their complete envy of us having an actual football team reared it's ugly head on this one. Wow, just wow! Think it's time to launch a counter offensive? Let us hear your ideas.
Our football contributors Sacsha and Arman were joined by Andy and Adam Hoge from Bucky's 5th Quarter for another story over at CornNation.com and it made for a really fun question and answer, so please check that out.
What are other sites saying about this game? Well ESPN College GameDay will be live from Bascom Hill as we've reported here, but we'll also be there live in person and on set, so check us out for a full report LIVE early Saturday morning as we gather on the set of College GameDay and we'll have a story tomorrow about the panels thoughts on the game. So far ESPN has given us their GameDay Kickoff where Recce Davis previews the game and does a pretty damn good job in my book.
Our Eidtor Andy will be revealing his picks later on tonight, but he's been much more accurate than the guys over at ESPN's B1G Blog, here are their predictions for the weekend and as you can see they haven't been nearly as good as Andy... Ya, take that ESPN!
Of course the fascination with Russell Wilson hasn't stopped, in fact it's been getting increasingly worse (and by worse I mean awesome) throughout the season. SI.com's Stewart Mandel has a great feature story on him and the Wisconsin offense. It's a bit refreshing for our "boring" offense to finally get some pub behind just how hard it is to play our style and having the kind of kids that buy into the system as a whole is amazing. SI.com also picked this as their Game of the Week and it's a very good read as well and the seemingly endless picks of this game lands with Nebraska putting up 20 points, but is that good enough to win? Guess you'll have to read it, huh?
There's been so much attention on this game that the rest of the B1G hasn't really gotten much attention. Well, that's what happens when the only other matchup that's worth even noting is the Michigan State vs. Ohio State game. In that spirit I'm going to sign off with a video here of Kirk Cousins talking at the B1G Luncheon. I know we've played it here before, but if this doesn't get you up for the start of Big Ten Football and what it means to be a player, coach, administrator, or just a fan like us, I don't know what will... Until next Thirsty Thursday, enjoy your beverages and ON WISCONSIN!!
