The one big flaw in Glen Davis' game

If you have listened to the Celtics Late Night Show at all during the last few weeks you have probably discovered my new man crush for Glen "Big Baby" Davis. While many claim their Celtics man crushes to be Rondo, Pierce, Garnett, or even Ray Allen, I have decided to mix it up by jumping on the Glen Davis bandwagon. I guess you can call me a Big Baby buddy.

The drive, hard work, and clutch performances we have witnessed from this guy through just ten games is amazing. There's nobody, I repeat nobody, on that court that works harder for what he gets than Glen Davis. Some people may use that against him because he isn't exactly what you would call a natural talent... not me.

Although I have tried to stick up for mostly everything Big Baby has done recently there is one thing I have noticed he needs to work on, court awareness.

I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about here. Davis gets the ball in the low post and there is only one option... well maybe two... ahh scratch that, three. Score, get fouled, or get blocked. Dishing the ball to an open teammate is not exactly Glen Davis' fortay and usually happens in the same frequency as a solar eclipse.

While I don't expect him to be the next Rajon Rondo, I would like to see him become a little bit more aware of what's going around him. For example, in Saturday night's game against Memphis, Davis received the ball in the low post and drew the double team, there was Paul Pierce wide open at the top of the arc for three.

I yelled, "Get it to Pierce!!! Get it to Pierce!!! He's open!!!" No luck. Davis threw up one of his shots that had it gone in I would have started breaking out like a mother (expletive) doing the Dougie, the only problem was that it didn't go in.

I then found myself with my face in my palms. It was a clutch situation in the game and one of my favorite players on the team had just made a terrible decison and displayed horrible court awareness.

This one play brought me back to reality. Glen Davis is far from perfect. At the same time it also made me realize how much better he can get and how much he has improved since entering the league.

By the way, don't worry haters, my man crush on Glen Davis didn't just end because of this one flaw I discovered. I will still continue holding out my money for when I find a Glen Davis jersey and dougie-ing everytime he does something nasty on the court. Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you, you're all welcome to jump on the Big Baby bandwagon with me whenever you like. Just let it be known that when this guy turns into an all-star I was the one steering the bandwagon the whole way.
