The New Orleans Saints are headed in the right direction at the right time. Quarterback Drew Brees looks like he's well prepared for the final stretch of the season. The Saints are ready for what lies ahead to lead them right back into the Super Bowl.

The Atlanta Falcons are the only team holding up a wall in front of the Saints. Now they Saints look as if they have a solid wild card spot in the playoffs. But they still can win the division with five games remaining on their schedule. Including a game against their rival the Falcons Monday night December 27th. What a match up that will be especially if both teams continue their solid production.

The Saints won five out of their last six games. The prolific offense the champs had last season is beginning to rise once again. Saints posted four double digit margin victories in the last six games.

The team has solid goals set and are ready to do what it takes to win, as they showed in Dallas on Thanksgiving day. In their last six games the Saints averaged about 417 of total yards of offense. With an average of 308 yards of passes being thrown by Brees into multiple receivers hands and a average of 29 points scored as a team per game.

Currently the Saints have a record of 8-3 and second in the NFC south. The team can only improve from here especially in the running game. The running game of the Saints will get better. Running back Reggie Bush when playing well and is healthy is a dynamic performer on the field and becomes a major threat to the opposing defenses in the running and passing game. Last week he had his first playing time since missing the last six weeks with an ankle injury. He sure looked bad and did not adjust to the speed accurately. Not to worry Bush will improve and make solid plays in the weeks to come. Running back Pierre Thomas is not far behind from returning as well. Thomas was the leading rusher last season. He has missed the last eight games with a sprained left ankle.

Head coach Sean Payton knows his unit has been plagued throughout the season with injuries. He also knows his team has score over 30 points in the five out of the last six games. At the same token the back-ups of the Saints have taken on opportunities and turned them into solid performances.

The Saints have recaptured the art of winning a Championship. When playoff time arrives in January if the Saints can maintain their solid production the team is well on their way to winning the Super Bowl once again.
