The book on how to get cut from an NBA roster, by Von Wafer

The purpose of this book is to provide NBA training camp invites and training camp participants with non-guranteed contracts the steps they need to perform to assure that they don't make their teams roster.

1. Turn the ball over as much as possible

I really didn't get to touch the ball enough tonight to get the chance to turn the ball over. This was a major fail on my part and might not help my cause to be cut from the team.

Maybe last night was enough to cover this category? During last night's game against the 76ers, I turned the ball over two times in just 12:00 minutes so that might be able to help my cause. If Doc realizes that I would just increase the team's turnovers problem that would be great!

2. Produce a negative +/- in two preseason wins

After last night's -2 +/- rating in a 28-point win I knew I had to step up my game if I didn't want to make the Celtics roster. So what did I do? Tonight I went out there and produced the teams worse +/- at -6. Hopefully Doc take a close look at this stat and sees that I'm not what this team needs. That would be great!

3. If you're a shooter don't shoot, if you're a defender don't defend

In my case I'm a shooter, so I decided not to shoot the ball. In two preseason games I have put up a combined zero shot attempts. The more hesitant I look the better chance I have of getting cut. I also heard that Doc said that I hadn't made a shot all training camp. That's great!

4. If you're a player who needs to rebuild your image, get T'd up

In each of our preseason games so far I have been sure to negatively impact the team by picking up technical fouls. Tonight I did it later in the game and when the game (even though it was preseason) was on the line. This has to increase my chances to get cut. That's great!

If you take all of these tips into consideration your chances of not making an NBA team will increase tremendously. With Stephen Lasme and Mario West nipping at my heels I just have to keep doing what I've been doing. If I take these steps I will accomplish my goal of not being on the Celtics roster when they open the season October 26th against the Heat.

If you couldn't tell by now, this was written sarcastically and was not written by Von Wafer.
