The top ranked Tar Heel baseball team started conference play over the weekend with a  three game series at Wake Forest. They swept the Deacs to remain unbeaten.

On Friday night, ace Kent Emanuel pitched a complete game 5 hit shut out. Emanuel struck out 7 batters en route to his 3rd victory of the season.

Skye Bolt scored two runs and drove in one with his first home run of the season. Mike Zolk scored once and drove in a run in the contest. Carolina won the game 4-0.

On Saturday, the Tar Heels brought out the bats to the tune of 20 runs and defeated the Deacons 20-6.

The Tar Heels slugged 8 home runs in the game. Colin Moran and Brian Holberton hit two homers a piece. Moran drove in 6 while Holberton drove in 5 in the game. Cody Stubbs added 4 rbi in the game. Chaz Frank and Landon Lassiter each scored 4 times for the Diamond Heels.

Benton Moss took his 4th win of the season on the mound Saturday.

On Sunday, it was much different for North Carolina as Wake Forest jumped out to a 2-0 lead at the bottom of the first. But Carolina pitching allowed no more and the Heels spread out 6 runs for the 6-2 victory.

Cody Stubbs had two hits and an rbi in the win. Chaz Frank, Colin Moran, Skye Bolt, Brian Holberton and Michael Russell each added rbi's in the game.

Chris McCue picked up his 3rd win of the season in relief on Sunday. Hobbs Johnson went four innings with 2 earned runs as the starter.

With the victory, Carolina goes to a perfect 14-0 to start the season and are 3-0 in conference play.

The Tar Heels start a 6 game homestand with single games Tuesday and Wednesday against Gardner-Webb and High Point before hosting a three game series against Miami who was ranked 24th in last weeks rankings. North Carolina will end the homestand with a single game next Tuesday against Princeton at The Bosh.
