Sure They're Bad, But are They Entertaining?

First, please excuse the absence of posts. I just completed a move from California to New York and needless to say that is one journey that consumes your time. While I have been busy packing up my life, I have still made time for watching the Buffalo Bills. Why you ask? Well, because I’m pathetically devoted to the franchise and over the past few weeks, they have actually been interesting to watch.
Believe it or not, the Bills have managed to score 26 points or more in 3 of the last 4 games. The only game in that stretch where the offense sputtered was in a windy, rainy contest against the stingy Jets defense. If you predicted the Bills offense would show up in Baltimore and hang a 34 against Ray Lewis and the boys, then you’re going to start picking my lottery numbers.
Even more farfetched than the amount of points scored were the passing and receiving stats the Bills posted. A QB throwing for 382 yards, not one but TWO receivers going over a hundred yards, and Lee Evans find the endzone? Hang out, let me look out my window and make sure it’s not raining toads, because this might the apocalypse…Okay, no toads, we’re good.
I don’t expect the Bills to win, but if they can give me a thrill like they did last week against Baltimore and STILL snag the #1 overall pick, than I will be content. However, we must be cautious during this offensive revival. There are some who now feel that maybe the Bills DON’T have a problem at quarterback. All of a sudden seats are hard to come by on the Fitzpatrick bandwagon. This is a scary situation for Bills nation. I like Fitzpatrick’s style on the field. He gets the ball out of his hand, he’s not afraid to run with the ball, and on many occasion I’ve seen him throwing his body around down the field. Is it possible he is fitting into the Gailey system?
I have my opinions on this subject, but I think the answer is that it’s just too early to tell. He’s only 27 years old so he has plenty of years left and he has endured a career with three brutal franchises (Cincinnati, St. Louis, and Buffalo) that give no QB a legitimate chance at success. For now, if he can continue to throw for 300 yards and a couple scores a game, the Bills will at least be fun to watch. They won’t win, but at least I’ll get to play “Shout” 3 or 4 times a week. At this point, what more can you ask for?
