After a very poor showing on Friday night at the Garden, the Knicks take the floor for a 1pm showdown with the visiting Phoenix Suns on Monday. This day is special because one of America's iconic figures is always remembered, Martin Luther King Jr. Some schools are not in session and the remembering of such an icon can only pump up the volume in the world famous MSG.
Coming in, the Suns have struggled mightily this year and the Steve Nash trade rumors seemed to be quieting down. At 17-21 and stuck in a rather overly competitive Western Conference, the Suns need to scratch and claw their way into serious contention. Nash is the team leader and Grant Hill is having a very solid season. A big trade, however, brought Vince Carter, Mikhael Pietrus and Marcin Gortat over from Orlando and since then, the Suns have had their struggles.
On the other side of the floor, the Knicks are looking to bounce back after losing to the Kings on Friday night. Amar'e may be starting to feel some fatigue due to being the only staple the Knicks provide in the low post. The Knicks were able to absolutely blow the Suns out of the gym a week ago Friday in Phoenix. Shooting was definitely the issue against the Kings so the Knicks must come out more consistent in their shots and manage to get good looks at the basket. Look for another thriller at the Garden this afternoon brought to you in part by the Knicks and Suns.
