My weekly Sunday Snapshot blog gives me an opportunity to look back on my sleeper picks from the past week and rate their performance.
Delmon Young
Young may possibly be the best sleeper I have chosen all year. I recommended the prospect while he was hitting at a .448 clip. Young rewarded owners by besting that average, batting .531 on the week. Young has realized his immense potential at the age of 24. He is showing legitimate power, hitting 3 home runs over the past week while driving in 11 runs. He also added nine runs of his own over the past week. Young should be a must-own outfielder in all mixed formats for the remainder of the season.
Jhonny Peralta
The Indians third-baseman was shipped to the rival Detroit Tigers in an intradivision trade. Peralta's performance was effected by the shakeup this week. He slumped to a .143 average on the period. However, he did add two home runs, three RBI's and three runs scored. Look for Peralta to get back on track as he adjusts to playing within a different lineup.
Lastings Milledge
Just when fantasy owners thought they could trust Milledge again he let them down. The outfielder hit just .130 on the week with no home runs or RBI's and just a single run scored. He also plays on a struggling Pirates club that is looking more to the future than this season. That mentality may effect his value going forward. I wouldn't expect Milledge, with his three homers and 32 RBI's, to appear on many mixed league fantasy rosters from here on out.
