My weekly Sunday Snapshot blog gives me an opportunity to look back on my sleeper picks from the past week and rate their performance.
Buster Posey
I recommended Posey as a long-term option in all mixed formats. He is the top prospect in this year's class not named Strasburg. In his first week in the Major Leagues, Posey batted .444. Though he hasn't really started producing in other categories, he added just three RBI's this week, Posey is already a must-start option in every mixed league. His potential is that of a Matt Wieters, and Posey could easily surpass Wieters this season if he keeps hitting this well.
David DeJesus
I saw DeJesus as a nice stopgap option in mixed formats because of his pristine average this season. Those who picked him up were rewarded with a .385 average. I said not to expect much out of DeJesus in the other categories, but he also produced six RBI's and two runs this week. DeJesus still lacks the pop or speed necessary to be a full-time option in mixed leagues, but you can continue to use him for an average boost or as a stopgap while he is hot.
Brett Myers
I liked Myers as a two-start option this week despite the fact that he plays for the lowly Houston Astros who are 14 games under .500. He had gone deep into each of his 10 starts this season and continued that trend on Tuesday, going seven innings. The former Philadelphia star allowed run one run while striking out 10 in his first performance of the week. He pitches again today against Randy Wells of the Chicago Cubs and I will provide a more complete analysis of his value after that game.
