My weekly Sunday Snapshot blog gives me an opportunity to look back on my sleeper picks from the past week and rate their performance.
Miguel Montero
I recommended the Arizona catcher after his return from the DL; Montero rewarded owners by batting .330 on the week with three runs scored and two RBI's. Look for Montero to continue to hit well over the remainder of the season, making him a viable starter in all mixed formats. He is a stud catcher who would be owned in all leagues had he not spent the first two months of the season on the DL.
Gaby Sanchez
Sanchez is a player who has been streaking throughout the first half of the season. It's about time people took notice. Last week he hit .330 with a home run and four RBI's. Though his stats might not make him a glamorous option at the corner infield slot, he will get the job done. At this point, Sanchez is a reliable option in most mixed formats who can be used as a regular utility man or stopgap option at first base.
Adam Jones
Jones did not quite live up to my expectations over the past week. Sure, he hit for a respectable .261 average while adding a home run, four RBI's and two runs scored, but I expected more. I still have faith in the Jones of a year ago. Though Jones did not have the monster week I predicted, I feel that he can turn up the heat in the second half. I'm banking on it; I now own him in every fantasy league I participate in. He could make or break me this season. To me, he's worth the risk.
