My weekly Sunday Snapshot blog gives me an opportunity to look back on my sleeper picks from the past week and rate their performance.
Chris Coghlan
I recommended the Florida Marlins outfielder as he looked to be returning to his NL Rookie of the Year form from just a year ago. Coghlan continued his hit streak throughout this week, extending it to 12 games. During the streak he has hit .509 with 15 runs scored and six RBI's. Coghlan looks to be a resurgent option who could have a monster second half after a slow start to the season. Look to him as a 5th outfield option in mixed leagues with a tremendous amount of upside.
Marco Scutaro
I saw the Red Sox shortstop as a potential one week sleeper due to his incredible hot streak. Scutaro cooled off slightly, but still provided a .323 average on the week. He added six runs scored and three RBI's, making him a decent middle infield option over his past seven games. I don't recommend relying on Scutaro in the future as he is already coming down from his hot streak. I would keep an eye on him in case he gets hot again, but otherwise he is best left for deeper leagues.
Jose Lopez
I recommended the former All Star because of his recent stellar production at a weak position. Unfortunately, Lopez went completely cold this week, batting just .167 with two runs scored and two RBI's. Lopez is the first sleeper who has really burned me this season, and I hope he didn't burn too many of you readers. Go ahead and drop him for a more favorable middle infield option.
