NASCAR Sprint Cup series television ratings took a dip in the 2012 season when NASCAR was on Fox and ESPN. However the television ratings were up for NASCAR on TNT which is the six races that marks the summer, or middle part of the racing season. NASCAR is not concerned about the low TV ratings since the fact of the London Olympics and NCAA basketball games which affected the number of viewers. Last month Fox signed a hugh TV rights deal which will expire in 2022. The remaining 23 races will not begin until middle of next year when the negotiating window opens. The FOX ratings in 2012 were down  eight percent in 2012. The 2012 Chase ratings saw two times lower percentage drop from last year in 2011. ESPN and It’s partner ABC announced an increase of viewers for NASCAR Nationwide series races on the network averaging 1.99 million from 1.98 million last season. NASCAR is expecting an increase in television rates in 2013. NASCAR is taking over NASCAR.com beginning in January, and launching a new style car for the 2013 racing season.
