Sports Illustrated released its selections for the best players in NFL history by jersey number Wednesday.
Mixed in with Oakland Raiders center Jim Otto (who wore No. 00) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Warren Sapp (No. 99) is middle linebacker Ray Lewis, who was crowned as the top player to wear the No. 52 jersey.
Lewis, an 11-time Pro Bowler and the Ravens' lone player on the list, beat out runner-up and Pittsburgh Steelers center Mike Webster, Houston Oilers linebacker Robert Brazile, Cleveland Browns center Frank Gatski and New England Patriots linebacker Ted Johnson for the distinction.
Reading this my heart did a little dance. Ray Lewis is my favorite player EVER and I am his BIGGEST FAN! I'm so happy his star is still shining bright and I know retirement is just a season or two or three away but we've enjoyed every minute and every play our future hall of famer has given us! The day he retires will be a sad day but only because he won't play again. But, it will be a wonderful day because he never lost a step and it is always better to go out on top rather than stay too long and tarnish your legacy. No. 52 has never looked so good on another player. EVER....
