If you haven't heard already, the Celtics play the Miami Heat tomorrow night at 7:30 PM on TNT. I'm sure that is a huge shocker to you. Obviously this game is a statement game for the team, the biggest game of the regular season, and all that... We know already. But this is a statement game for Celtics fans as well.
Last year was a let down. In the 08-09 season coming off the championship the fans were crazy during regular season games. I remember thinking that every game was like a playoff atmosphere. Then last year came around and as fans, we got somewhat lazy and comfortable with where the Celtics were (until the playoffs).
Although I don't see it happening, that can't happen this year. As fans, we aren't entitled to anything. We have a good team NOW, and we can't take it for granted. I think we are too pissed off from the outcome of last year to let that happen again. And it all starts tomorrow. The Jungle needs to set the tone right from the time they enter the building tomorrow evening as to how games for the remainder of the season are going to be treated.
As for singling out tomorrows game in particular, this is a game in which everyone is trying to get a good look at the Heat, but they are looking for them to LOSE. For the first time since, well, Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals, the vast majority of the population are actually going to be ROOTING for the Celtics. Lets not let them down..
All eyes are on this game and from a respect level as a fanbase, I think we should take great pride in showing the whole world why the best fans reside inside the TD Garden. Because stuff like this (2nd poll down on page).. Can't happen. (Although it does lose some of its credibility by having the Lakers 2nd??) Go Celtics, and lets set the new era in Miami off on a terrible note!
