A former Durham police officer on Thursday agreed to a plea deal on federal drugs and weapons charges, according to court documents. Sherrod Peace, 35, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime. A charge of distributing less than 5 grams of crack cocaine will be dismissed. Peace was a defensive lineman for the UNC football team in 1998 and 1999.
