The Boston Bruins opened their season in Prague this past weekend, splitting a two game series with the Phoenix Coyotes.
In the first match-up the Bruins got outplayed, but were able to spark a comeback with Nathan Horton potting two goals in the third period. Horton showed very quickly that he has a goal scorers touch. Horton was brought in because last year the Bruins simply could not score, and with Marc Savard out to start the season who knows how the Bruins offense will do without Savard. The Bruins still lost, but it was nice to see Horton get going early.
In the second match-up the Bruins simply dominated the Coyotes. Tim Thomas looked sharp coming off of off-season knee surgery. Tyler Seguin scored his first career NHL goal, Nathan Horton added his third goal of the year, and power forward Milan Lucic added his first of the year in the 3-0 victory.
The Bruins return to action on Saturday in New Jersey. Have more next time I get into the Pressbox. Hoping for when the Bruins get off the road. More later!
