Do you remember when we thought Vanderbilt could be a 2-seed in the NCAA tournament? Oh wait, you didn't? Yeah, that was probably just me. Whoops. After the near defeat of Kentucky, I truly thought Vandy could run the table and crack the top 10.

Their next three games only encouraged me to believe that pipe dream even more. A miracle overtime against Georgia, then two statement wins on the road (@Arkansas and @Florida). Vanderbilt was sitting at 13 in the AP Poll and 18 in the misinformed ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. Things were starting to fall into line. A win on Senior Day and a run to the finals of the SEC Tournament would have to get the 2-seed conversation going.

But thanks to Devan Downey and the South Carolina Gamecocks, the wheels started to come off. Well, that may be too harsh....
