It wasn't very difficult to find a story line in last night's nationally broadcasted matchup between the Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics. You had two of the best point guards in the league going head-to-head, mouth piece Joakim Noah trying to back up his trash talk to Kevin Garnett, and most importantly you had the return of two gentlemen who helped the Celtics accomplish a lot in the past three years. Brian Scalabrine and Tom Thibodeau.
Similar to the way the Celtics welcomed back good friend and current enemy Eddie House back to the TD Garden following a trade deadline deal last season, the Celtics properly welcomed Boston's homeboy Brian Scalabrine and defensive mastermind Tom Thibodeau back to the Garden last night.
The Celtics game operations staff once again put together an excellent jumbotron montage of the best Scal and Thibs moments. The montage was highlighted by Scal's "famous" post-NBA Finals speech to reporters.
Following the montage the camera zoomed in on Scal who received a standing ovation. Being the great guy that he is, Scal-A-Brine acknowledged the respect given by putting his hands up to the crowd.
As much is it did hurt to see Scal raising his hands in a Bulls uniform it was great to see Scal back where he belongs. Maybe some day Mr. Scalabrine will make his return to Boston, but for now I wish him the best (except for when he plays the Celtics).
We miss you Scal.
